Abstract

Acid contg. liquids, partic. washing water and cleaning acid used in metal cleaning installation, are neutralised by adding CaCO3 of particle size 0.5(0.1) mm to the liq. and then if necessary, adding milk of lime to a pH of 7-9. Process may also be used in water clarification plant where iron salts such as iron sulphate are added. The residual water is then treated with chalk as above instead of calcium hydrate. The decantation time using chalk is relatively short.
