Abstract

<PICT:1016673/C1/1> Paint is precipitated from waste or circulating water by the addition of ferric chloride and/or ferrous sulphate preferably in the presence of an alkali such as lime water. A sedimentation container 1 has an overflow 2, an outlet 3 for clarified water and a paint sludge outlet 4. A trough 6 which delivers the paint-contaminated water and treatment chemicals may be ridged to create a turbulent flow and the pH of the water may be measured at two positions (not shown).
