Abstract

The appts. is used to diffuse ultra fine solid and liquid particles. It comprises a block (1) with a cone-shaped cavity (28), its larger end fitted to a chamber. A glass tube (26) fits into the top (5) of the block and guides a woollen thread (27). This passes across the smaller end (25) of the cavity, pulled by a drive roller (9) and tensioned by an adjustable pressure roller (10, 12, 13, 14). The thread traverses a container (29) holding the ultra fine material which clings to the thread. As this passes through the block, an air jet (4) diffuses it into the chamber, baffle plates trapping the larger particles.
