Abstract

The heavy vehicle is fitted with a hydraulic bypass transmission which is linked directly to the engine or the clutch. The transmission has a variable speed output which drives the conventional gear box so that a wide range of low speed gears is obtained for high torque work. The hydraulic fitting can be an optional extra for the vehicle and is slung under the existing engine and conventional transmission without much alteration. It is suitable for snow clearing vehicles as well as other high torque applications.
