Abstract

The tractor transmission has a group gear box coupled in front of the main gear box, with a reversing gear on the group box to reverse all the ratios of the main box. In order to extend the range of the transmission a second set of gears, are fitted between the layshaft of the group box and the main shaft of the main box. This enables a five speed ratio to be set up while also enabling the vehicle to move from slow forward to fast reverse, as is required when working with front loaders etc.
