Abstract

The gearbox input shaft (7) from the engine and the first speed change shaft (11) are connected by permanently meshing gears (9, 10), which can be changed to alter the overall gearbox ratio. Motion is transmitted from the first shaft to the second speed change shaft (14), which is coaxial with the input shaft, by engaging gears to select one of six forward and two reverse ratios. Rotation is further transmitted to a third speed change shaft (17) which drives the tractor rear wheels. A spur gear is used for reverse ratios. Two shafts (28, 29) provide independent drives from the front and rear of the gearbox to power auxiliary equipment.
