Abstract

L'invention concerne des diaphragmes utilisés dans les cellules d'électrolyse des chlorures alcalins et un procédé pour leur préparation. Le diaphragme de l'invention est constitué essentiellement de fibres ayant des dimensions transversales de 0,3 à 5 microns, ces fibres étant constituées d'un polymère d'addition fluoré présentant la propriété de former lors de l'utilisation dans la cellule une portion superficielle ayant une composition différente de celle de l'ensemble des fibres, après une durée d'environ deux semaines, ce qui accroît nettement la résistance à l'éclatement et la durée de service du diaphragme; un procédé de préparation de ces diaphragmes est également décrit.
