Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à la chimie industrielle. Elle concerne un procédé pour préparer un pigment bioxyde de titane durable en déposant un revêtement de silice dense et ensuite de l'alumine, caractérisé en ce que : a. On maintient la bouillie de TiO2 à une température comprise entre 80 et 100 degrés C durant le dépôt de silice; b. Facultativement, on règle le pH de la bouillie à un niveau de 9 à 10,5; c. On ajoute rapidement une quantité de silicate de sodium suffisante pour fournir de 1,5 à 15 % de silice, par rapport au TiO2 , sous la forme d'un revêtement dense, amorphe, substantiellement continu sur la silice; d. On règle le pH de la bouillie à un niveau compris entre 9 et 10,5 et on maintient ce pH à une température de 80 à 100 degrés C pendant 15 à 60 mn; e. Facultativement, on règle le pH de la bouillie à 8 environ, et f. On ajoute rapidement de l'aluminate de sodium et un acide simultanément à la bouillie tout en maintenant le pH entre 7 et 9. Le pigment produit est utile dans des peintures et des matériaux thermoplastiques, notamment.
