Abstract

The device prevents overflow of liquid from storage tanks, having a mechanism for shutting off the intake pipe using a float valve. A medium under pressure opens the valve. There can be a compression chamber with a movable wall coupled to the stem of the valve, and supplied with medium under pressure via a lengthwise passage in the stem (10b), and coupled by a flexible hose (54) to the source. The float actuates a mechanism connecting the chamber to the tank when maximum level is reached. The chamber can comprise a housing containing an inflatable bladder sealed to a solid part of the valve stem, and to the base of the housing.
