Abstract

The filler valve for oil tanks (1) has an inner guide ring (6) supported by radial ribs. The piston valve (11) slides in the guide ring (6) and is normally held on the valve seat (14) by the spring (31). When the valve inlet (2) is connected to the supply the weight of liq. presses the piston valve (11) downwards and oil flows into the tank (19). When the required level is reached in the tank the float (27) rises and closes the valve (24). The valve (23) is mechanically operated and is kept closed during the filling operation. The pressure of the liq. in the space (30) rises and closes the piston valve (11). The valve (23) is then opened to drain off oil in the space above the piston valve.
