Abstract

The free standing shelving unit has four corner posts (1) which are held together by horizontal shelf diaphragms of edge-flanged sheet. Shelf support brackets (11) slide along the posts to be secured in a desired position by a combination of a mechanical key and post elasticity. Shelf or cupboard units are then fixed to the brackets by lateral screws. The posts (1) may be of a symmetrical 'L' shape in cross-section with each leg (5) terminating in all internally returned 'U' formation (6). Notches (7) are provided at corresponding regular vertical intervals on the free edges of the 'U' formations (6). The brackets (11) are also of 'L' section with square external end returns (12) to each leg, and a rebated (16) horizontal flap (14) return on each of the bottom edges.
