Abstract
The circuit breaker has a pressurised gas chamber and an injection nozzle whose valve is actuated by the motion of the contact mechanism. The inlet to the switch chamber is connected to the outlet of the pump chamber which supplies the extinguishing gas. The contacts are housed in a metallic chamber filled with an electronegative gas such as sulphur hexafluoride. The switch is actuated by a srive rod whose end is connected to a yoke. A pisto rod is connected to the centre of the yoke. The piston operates the suction valve which opens when the contacts of the switch are open. The current to the contact is via the wall of the pump cylinder.
