Abstract

The car engine (1) has a water pump (2) which pumps water through the inlet (3) into the engine. The water flows from the outlet (4) to the radiator (5) and returns by the pipe (G). A secondary circuit (S) takes water from the cylinder head (10) and directs it around the carburrettor (12) to the swirl chamber (14). The water enters the swirl chamber (14) by the tangential pipe (17) and leaves by the tangential pipe (18). The swirling motion generated by the tangential entry separates the gas bubbles from the water so that the bubbles leave by the pipe (17) from the centre of the upper hemi-spherical cap (19). The gas velocity is reduced by the restrictor (33) before entering the expansion tank (30).
