Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent generation of bubbles in an orifice by setting a specific proportion of a diameter and a length of the orifice on the high pressure side and forming another throat at the lower side of a valve seat of the orifice so as to reduce a pressure loss on the high pressure side and an area through which a refrigerant passes.
CONSTITUTION: When a high pressure refrigerant flowing into a refrigerant passage 23 on the high pressure side of an expansion valve 7 runs into a small diameter port 29, the flow speed of the refrigerant is increased. The refrigerant then flows into an orifice 31 and is contracted adjacently to an upstream end 63 of the orifice 31. Because a proportion of an opening diameter (d) and a length (1) of the orifice 31 is set 1/d≤ 0.8, an area where bubbles are produced between an external periphery of the contraction flow and the wall face of the orifice 31 may be reduced to result in less pressure drop so that generation of the bubbles caused by boiling is restricted. Thereby, vibration of a valve member 35 resulting from a cavitation is restricted so that a passing noise of the refrigerant may be reduced. Additionally, the second throat 69 is formed on the lower side of the first throat between a valve body 37 and a valve seat 33, contracting a refrigerant passage on the lower side of the valve member. Because of this, a pressure drop in the vicinity to the valve seat 33 is not significant and the generation of the bubbles is satisfactorily restricted.
