Abstract

Load bearing walls comprise a structural framework enclosed in insulating foam, where the matrix foam is strengthened by a metallic or ceramic lattice and a layer of glass matting on the external side of the frame. Used for mfr. of relatively strong but lightweight walls or partitions. The core may include ancillary blocks or panels of expanded clay, glass or polystyrene. The core foam is pref. phenolic or a polyurethane or polyisocyanate compsn. incorporating a fire retardant additive. The walls may be faced with sheets of metal, acrylic resin, asbestos cement, brick, glass, tiles etc., bonded to the core by injection foaming in situ.
