Abstract
1277196 Composite block or tile panel REDLAND BRICKS Ltd and R A G POULTON 2 July 1969 [5 July 1968] 32279/68 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions B6 and E1] A panel comprises a rigid backing panel 13 and a plurality of spaced apart tiles or blocks 14 each in contact with one face of the backing panel and secured thereto by an adhesive synthetic resin 16, which fills the spaces between the tiles or blocks to a depth from the backing panel which is a fraction of the thickness of the tiles or blocks. The tiles or blocks may be chamfered to the depth of the resin. The backing panel may comprise a layer of foamed plastics material, e.g. polyurethane or polystyrene, or wood wool, and a layer of asbestos 12 may also be incorporated. The tiles may be ceramic tiles or concrete blocks. The resin may be an epoxy resin. The backing panel may include one or more reinforcing members in contact with the tiles and secured thereto by the resin. The panel may be made by placing the backing panel and tiles in a mould and then applying the resin to the required depth.
