Abstract

The lightweight composite panel provides thermal and acoustic insulation together with fire resistance properties. IT may be used for suspended floors or roofs, and may be prefabricated wholly or in part with the latter finished by the addn. of site concrete. The panel may be of a beam (3) and floor slab (4) reinforced concrete construction, having a continuous soffit of fire resistant panels (1). It incorporates cellular plastics blocks (2) as permanent void formers. The units may incorporate the compression zone only of the beam when prefabricated, the residual beam and floor concrete being placed on site. An alternative form is suitable for roofs, being similar to the floor panels but without the concrete floor slabbing (4).
