Abstract

The semi-automatic electric vehicle coupling is particularly for mounting on the rooves of self-propelled rail vehicles to make them up into trains. Each half-coupling has a coupling head with two self-centring horns, a male and a female contact and a locking device. Each head is mounted on the end of a pneumatic and telescopic ram, extending in the lengthwise direction of the train. Retracting springs can be provided for ram and head. The ram can be arranged to pivot in a vertical plane on a transverse axis in the top of an insulator mounted vertically on the roof. The insulator pivots on a vertical axis, and the ram can also pivot for a few degrees about its lengthwise axis.
