Abstract
1370266 Mounting rail vehicles on bogies WEGMANN & CO 21 Jan 1972 [23 Jan 1971] 3033/72 Heading B7L [Also in Division F2] A railway vehicle having a body 3 and bogie 1, 2 is provided with two longitudinal radius rods 4, 5 universally pivotally jointed to the bogie (or body) and connected at their free ends to swivel arms 8, 9 pivotally mounted on the vehicle body (or bogie), the free ends of the radius rods being connected directly or indirectly through the swivel arms as shown by a connecting link 11a, 12, 11b which comprises a force-responsive damping coupling 12 adapted to hold the radius rods coupled to prevent hunting during straight line travel but to yield under the forces obtaining in the connecting link when the vehicle negotiates a curve so as to allow the bogie to turn beneath the vehicle body. The damping coupling 12 may be frictionally or hydraulically operating. The rods 4, 5 may be of equal length as shown with one cranked and one simple swivel arms. In alternative embodiments the rods 4, 5 are not the same length and both swivel arms are cranked or simple respectively. Figure 9 shows an axle guide spring element comprising an elastic rubber layer between two dihedral retainers whose vertices extend horizontally and either parallel to or at an acute angle to the longitudinal bogie axis. Two such spring elements are associated with each axle box, respectively located in front of and behind the axle.
