Abstract
189,554. Bonner, J. C. Sept. 2, 1921. Stands or supports for vehicles.- A vehicle A rests upon a vehicle of narrower gauge with the axes of its wheels at points below the horizontal plane of engagement of the two vehicles, the axes being above the axes of the wheels of the narrower vehicle when both vehicles are on the same ground level. The vehicle A, Fig. 7<a>, is hauled over the flat body of the vehicle 2 by'means of a rope 77 running between fairleads 80, the rope being connected to a winch 75 on the rail vehicle. When a number of vehicles have been hauled over the rail vehicle they are raised clear of the ground by pneumatic jacks 21, Fig. 4, and locked by pneumatically-operated catches 36. Cam surfaces 83, Fig. 7<a>, on the rail vehicle engage projections 82 on the vehicle A to prevent relative longitudinal movement of the vehicles. Instead of pneumatic jacks, four geared eccentrics operated by an electric motor may be used.
