Abstract

Jacks.-A guide rail for the head of a lifting- jack is formed of a strip of spring steel &c, following the contour of the vehicle spring and is fitted to a suitable part of a vehicle such as the axle or axle casing so that the jack can be slid along the rail until the jack head engages the load. A curved guide rail 1 of spring steel is secured to the axle casing by a ring clamp 2, the jack head having a slot or lip adapted to engage the guide rail. The guide rail 6, Fig. 3, may be secured at its ends to the spring 7 by plates 8, 9 secured by bolts 10, 12, the jack head being slotted to engage the rail. The guide rails may be interconnected by lateral guides extending across the vehicle so that the jack can be moved from one wheel to another. The plate 8 may be fitted with a lubricating pad and be adjustably connected to the guide rail.
