Handling transferable vehicle bodies; platforms.-A station for handling freight loaded in transferable vehicle bodies 13 comprises an overhead way 30 for motor vehicles extending transversely across a platform 10, and a traveling frame 20 for transferring the vehicle bodies 13 to and from the platform. As shown, railway tracks 16, 17 run alongside, the platform, which is extended laterally to provide spaces 14 and 15 for transferring goods between the trains and the vehicle bodies waiting on the platform. The roadway 30 may cross the centre of the station platform 10, and the space immediately beneath it may be used for offices. A station may be provided with several overhead roadways.
