Abstract

The double-ladder which can be used as scaffolding, consists of two pairs of uprights, joined by rungs (3) on the lower part and a hinge on the upper part. The two ladders can also be linked together by articulated arms allowing a variety of positions to be assumed. A detachable platform (4) rests on the rungs to form a level work area. The work platform has at least two pairs of cramps (5a, b) on its underside. These grip' opposite rungs of the two ladders, limiting the distance which they can move and locking them securely in position. This eliminates the need for articulated arms and a separate locking mechanism. By moving the platform up or down the ladder, different working heights can be obtained and the ladder remains perfectly stable even through the angle between the two parts may become acute.
