Abstract

Crane for loading and off-loading containers on or off a ship includes a mobile carriage traversing a track and fitted with equipment for connecting it with the top side of a container and for lifting or lowering the container. Below the track is mounted a vertically movable loading platform for a number of containers side by side. The mobile carriage lifts or lowers the containers by a short vertical movement on or from the loading platform. The loading platform is provided with lifting devices so that the container, in the lowest position of the loading platform, can be moved in horizontal plane towards or away from the crane.
