Abstract

Hair colouring prods. which give consistent results are obtd. from Matricaria Chamomillae by a process comprising extraction with H2O or aqs./organic solvents contg. is not 75% H2O. The extract is conc., polysaccharides pptd. and filtered off and any solvent removed. The polysaccharides are pref. pptd. with alcohol. In an example, 40 kg Matricaria Chamomillae flowers, ground in a disc mill, were extracted at 100-110 degrees, with stirring, with 1200 C. H2O. After 1 hr. the flowers were drained are then treated again in the same way. The combined extracts were concd. to 81. 161. ethanol were added at 95 degrees to ppte. polysaccharides. Boiling for 15 mins. caused flocculation and helped filtration. The filtrated was concd. to give the dye. Yield of flavonoids was 0.6%.
