Abstract

Electrophotographic film that can also be used for the same purposes as photographic film having a silver halide emulsion consists successively of (I) a substrate, (II) an ultra-thin film of transparent inorg. material, (III) a thin film of ohmic material that facilitates charging of layer IV before exposure, and (IV) a thin covering film that consists of inorg radiofrequency, sputtered, photoconducting matl, is very dense, microcrystalline electrically anisotropic and almost completely transparent, has a dark resistance of at least 1012 ohm-cm and a fark-light resistance ratio of at least 104, and can receive and retain a rapid charge so that an image is formed. Capable of very rapid acceptance of charges. Practically infinite gradation of pigment values, Combines good flexibility with high surface hardness and resistance to scratching, abrasion, and cracking.
