Abstract

An appts. for mixing continuously powders in predetermined proportions incorporates a central cylinder of small dia., around which is a cylindrical chamber with a conical base and a cover, and a vibrator fixed to the conical base, on its outer surface. The cylindrical chamber has two deflectors in it. One slopes towards the bottom of the central cylinder. The other is in the form of a V pointing upwards and is in the conical base, below the central cylinder and the other deflector. The cover is fitted with an inlet hopper for one powder, the other being fed into the central cylinder. There is an adjustable flow regulator, the lower part of which slopes towards the first deflector. The gap between the bottom of the regulator and the deflector can be altered by raising or lowering the regulator by bolts bearing on a flange on the cover. The cover may admit other powders into the mixer, and several products of different particles sizes and densities can be mixed. The appts. is simpler and costs less to maintain than existing appts. which generally incorporates rotating mixers, e.g. screw mixers, and there is no sep. such as can occur in existing plant.
