Abstract
The steel plates need be curved in one direction only, along the length of the vessel. The plates are butt welded and are of such a width, that the hull shapes remain generally curved in appearance. The upper plates are welded at an angle to curve the hull outwards until the garboard strake is reached when the curvature will be in the opposite direction. The longerons consist of edge on plates welded to the centre of each plate. The hull shape provides good stability in rough weather, and makes the construction suitable for sea going vessels.
