Abstract

A control assembly for brakes of railway vehicles consists of a spring loaded fluid brake cylinder. Spring expansion causes brake application and fluid pressure releases the brakes. The cylinder is connected to the brake by a linkage with a slack adjuster working in compression. This slack adjuster can be fitted in the linkage. There is a fixed point on the slack adjuster supports and another can be on the adjuster body. The cylinder spring acts on the piston and the cylinder, and the piston rod on the brake rod. A separate brake rod system, on the side of the vehicle, can be used if fluid pressure is lacking.
