Abstract

The system is for tractors, industrial machines etc, having a belt running over driving and driven drums, whose distance apart is variable. The driven drum (2) transmits the drive to wheels or crawler tracks via a chain etc. and its spindle is mounted in two bell-crank levers (4), pivoted by a selector lever (10) acting on a bar (6) joining them together. This alters the distance between driving (1) and driven (2) drums, each of which has a gearwheel fixed to and rotating with it. Thus the gearwheels are brought into engagement with each other the belt being simultaneously rendered ineffective, reversing the drive.
