Abstract

The machine applies a compression or a tension stress, which varies periodically according to a desired law, to a cylindrical that specimen (3) having two plan plane parallel faces. A frame carries a base (2) and two or more rigid vertical columns (1a, 1b, 1c) mounted on it. One of the plane faces of the test specimen may be secured in a horizontal position w.r.t. the columns. A vibrator (10) is fixed to the other plane face of the test specimen is face to move vertically, guided by the columns, and delivers a vertical force which varies periodically with known frequency and amplitude. A hydraulic or pneumatic device (16) has an actuator (19) which is applied to the frame and which enables a constant known vertical force to be applied to the test specimen.
