Abstract

1491235 Testing springs ATELIERS METALLURGIQUES DE SAINT URBAIN 27 Nov 1974 [27 Nov 1973] 51288/74 Heading F2S Apparatus for fatigue testing one or more pair of springs 12, 13 comprises two parallel fixed abutments 1, 2; an intermediate member 3 capable of being displaced in a linear reciproeating movement between and perpendicular to the abutments 1, 2 the springs 12, 13 being arranged in linear opposition with their outermost ends resting on the abutments 1, 2 and their innermost ends resting on the intermediate member 3; and means for applying to the intermediate member 3 an inertial reaction force which oscillates along the line of reciprocating movement at a frequency substantially that of the springs being tested. The intermediate member 3 may slide between guides 9, 10. The inertial reaction force may be provided by an arm 6 carrying an adjustable weight 11 and driven by an electric motor.
