Abstract

The mechanism is for use with metal chains etc., where the transporting chains are parallel to each other and hold a film of plastic with receptacles formed in it, passing through a food-stuffs or pharmaceutical products packing machine. The chains are driven in synchronism by wheels round which they pass, angular movement of the wheels being converted into an indexing movement of the chains. The chains (2) are thrust by a number of forces against an arc-shaped contact surface on the peripheries of the wheels (1), the forces being perpendicular to this surface. This prevents any slippage between the wheels and the chains or other components.
