Abstract

The furnace conveyor belt is of flexible metal, and has means of support for its top run (3). There are two or more movable lengthwise members (9), which reciprocate simultaneously, both in the lengthwise direction of the furnace and in one inclined or perpendicular to this direction on each side of the level of top run support. The support can consist of a second of movable lengthwise members, operating in the same manner as the first but out of phase with them. Where there are n sets of members, they can be out of phase between the two sets of one-nth of a cycle. The members can rest on rollers mounted eccentrically on a drive shaft, guides being provided to prevent the members shifting in the lengthwise direction in relation to the rollers.
