Abstract

Vincamine 2-(p-hydroxybenzoyl)benzoate (I) is new. and is useful as a vasodilator and cerebral oxygenator with weak hypotensive and sedative properties. The salt (I) liberates vincamine slowly and so maintains a constant level of vincamine in the blood for prolonged periods. There is therefore no need to administer vincamine in frequent, small dosages to achieve the same effect.
