Abstract

An open end spinning device (having e.g. a spinning rotor) is fed with fibres through a feed duct connecting with a cavity in which an opening roll rotates, the opening roll being fed with a sliver which is opened into discrete fibres on the opening roll and which pass from the mouth of the feed duct (taken in the direction of rotation of the opening roll) is closer to the opening roll than the downstream edge of the mouth, whereby trash is deflected across the mouth of the feed duct and doesn't enter the feed duct. The trash hits pref. a deflector surface downstream of the feed duct and enters a trash removal duct through which it is exhausted. Trash is prevented from entering the feed duct even though the trash removal duct is downstream of the feed duct.
