Abstract

The press is particularly for impact-testing of tyres used on aircraft landing gear etc., and has a slide on which a ram acts directly, while the final effort is applied, overhung, by the end of an arm solidly fixed to the slide. The arm (17) also extends to the other side of the slide (16), and there is an additional ram (27) exerting an effort counter-balancing that of the force acting on the overhung arm end (3). An effort measuring device can be provided for both main (21) and additional rams. The sections of the rams can be inversely proportional to those of their lever arms, being supplied with the same variable pressure to suit the final effort to be exerted.
