Abstract

1500591 Presses S SHIOKAWA 9 June 1975 24678/75 Heading B5F The bending force on the C-frame of an hydraulic press is counteracted by at least one tierod 7 extending across the gap of the frame, the tie-rod being on the frame side of the press-ram 5 and tensioned by an auxiliary hydraulic cylinder 9. The bending moment applied by the tie-rod is at least equal to that applied by the ram. This is achieved by making the tie-rod piston area at least equal to that of the rampiston, or by increasing the fluid pressure applied to the tie-rod piston 10. An arm 12 on the ram has an aperture to receive the tie-rod 7 which thus also functions as a guide for the ram. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,181,941.
