Abstract

The section for use in adapting old timber window frames for double glazing, is of U section (11, 12) with one auxiliary leg (13) received in the rebate of the timber frame, the leg (13) abutting the vertical face of the rebate and receiving section fixing screws (20). The lower leg (13) forms a right angle with the web (12), and the leg (13) increases in thickness away from its junction with the web and incorporates a continuous groove centrally in its external face. A T-section groove may be provided continuously on the inner face of the leg (13) to locate the right angled plates when forming right angled mitred frame corner junctions. Suitable cement or plastic sections are used as infill (25).
