Abstract

The valve connects an outlet to the drain pipe which reaches almost to the bottom of the container and simultaneously connects the gas supply pipe to the container. The drain pipe is plugged at the top but is connected to a surrounding chamber containing annular valve member. A seal is retained between a spring and sliding plunger which is actuated by a handle. With the handle vertical, the valve is closed and the seal is compressed. When the handle is rotated, the seal is displaced from its seat and an annular gap is formed around its periphery. Gas can then pass into the container, forcing the liquid up the pipe and through now uncovered orifices.
