Abstract

Fuels for IC engines contain (a) 0.0001-0.1 (pref. 0.003 -0.3) vol. % 1,3,5-tris (dimethylaminopropyl)-hexahydrotriazine (I) and opt. (b) glycols and alcohols. (I) is an effective carburettor anti-icing additive and also improves the anti-icing action of known additives (glycols and alcohols) it also has good anti-corrosion props. Component (b) can consist of polyoxyalkylene glycols of formula HO(RO)nH (where R is 1-4C alkylene and n = 0.u vol. %) monohydric alcohols, glycol ethers and/or 1,2-glycols. Cpd. (I) can be prepd. by reacting N,N-dimethylaminopropylamine with 37% formalin and can be used in the form of the crude prod.
