Abstract

Fuel compsns. contain amides of formula RO(CH2CH2O)n CH2CONR1R2 (I) (where R is a satd. or unsatd. 8-20C (pref. 12-18C) aliphatic radical, or phenyl substd. by 8-12C alkyl; R1 is H or a satd. or unsatd. >=3C (pref. 4-18C) aliphatic radical; R2 is a satd. or unsatd. >=3C (pref. 4-18C) aliphatic radical; n has a value such that the wt. ratio of RO to (CH2CH2O)n is 0.5-1.5:1, pref. 0.9-1.1:1). (I) impart improved detergency, anticorrosion and antiicing properties to hydrocarbon fuels; they reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emission.
