Abstract

The invention concerns motor fuel compositions containing from 0.0002 to 0.2% by weight, preferably 0.001 to 0.01% by weight, of an asparagine derivative of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R is <IMAGE> or -CH2CH2CH2-OR'' wherein R' is a C6-C20 aliphatic hydrocarbon group, R'' is a C10-C20 aliphatic hydrocarbon group, and x is 1 to 3. The asparagine derivatives act as carburettor detergents and corrosion inhibitors.
