Abstract

A ball point writing tip for use with low viscosity ink consists of an ink feed pipe with a narrow central hole. This central base consists of a channel and radial arms of not more than 0.15 mm diameter. A piercing needle is used to puncture ink cartridge within holder and ink then flows down the central base to feed the ball trapped in the ball retention cage. The ink channel is measured to finely balance the opposed requirements of reliable steady flow when in use and no flow when not in use irrespective of variations in temperature and pressure.
