Abstract

The assembly consists of a sample preparation section with a small filling hole in a pipe at the top of the ampoule, sealed by a sleeve, and a laterally protruding union in the side covered by a cap of self sealing material; this cap is a tight fit in a cylindrical recess in the side of the body of the feeder section of the assembly and aligned with the spout in that cap. A hole in the base of the recess allows the needle of a syringe to be stuck through the cap. The needle also passes through a self sealing disc retained in the body of the feeder section by a screwed hollow plug. A gas channel at right angles to the needle guide hole passes between a connection to the carrier gas source and the base connection to the esp. gas-chromatograph analyzer, and is in direct communication with the guide hole.
