Abstract

The valve has a body (1) with a cylindrical passage (2) in which rotates around an axis perpendicular to the passage a vane. To seal the vane in its closed position is a ferrule (6) formed of two annular elements (7), (8) in the valve body (1). The ferrule is pressed into the valve by forcing it through an opening (2). The annular elements (7), (8) are joined by welds (9), (10) and enclose a sealed space (11) fed with liquid under pressure via a lateral hole (12). The fluid pressure presses the element (8) towards the contact surface (5) of the vane. This seals the closed valve which can still be easily opened.
