Abstract

The superheater is intended to provide small quantities of superheated steam at atmospheric pressures. This method obviates the need for pressure vessels of excessive weight-required normally to achieve the necessary strength. The superheater is electrically fired and is insulated throughout to retain the heat. The furnace may operate continuously with a constant feed of water. The heat exchanger tubes are finned to provide better heat transfer. A thermostat is fitted to protect the superheater from malfunctioning by cutting the heatings. The superheater is also fitted with the necessary non-return valves and safety valves.
