Abstract
The engine runs on pulverised carbon which is obtained from wood charcoal. The feeder consists of a vertical vessel (1) running into a sloping bunker (2) at the bottom of the vessel. At the end furthest from the vessel the bunker turns up and terminates in a vertical tube with an open horizontal top. A short distance from the open end of the tube there is a flat horizontal plate (3). Engine intake air is drawn through the gap between the open end and the plate (3) into the suction pipe (4) and entrains the pulverised carbon as it flows past the open end of the tube. A throttle valve (5) in the suction pipe regulates the quantity of air and fuel admitted.
