Abstract

An injector for a cold-chamber pressure die-casting machine has an intensifier with a piston which is pre-loaded by a pressure medium, which medium is supplied to the piston via a valve from a pressure reservoir. The piston rod of the intensifier piston extends through a pre-loading cavity and into a working cavity. The intensifier and its piston rod are of hollow construction and connected directly without an intermediate valve on the hollow side to a high pressure reservoir. The intensifier piston is rapidly accelerated to give a blow of low kinetic energy to the working piston.
