Abstract

The chisel has a handle incorporation upper and lower hand guards, i.e. robust flange-like projections (6, 7) at opposed ends of a generally cylindrical handle element (5), and is designed to obivate hand injury due to either the hammer or slip of the chisel on the work surface. The handle (5) is a hollow sleeve of synthetic material or rubber fitting over and conforming to the stock or aft axial extension of the chisel blade (1). The top of the handle tapers to a convex top. The sleeve and blade extension are rectangular in section and the sleeve has longitudinal ribs.
